> Tuvalu, a small island nation in the middle of the Pacific Ocean, is planning to evacuate all of its over 11,000 inhabitants, due to rising sea levels caused by climate change that mean, essentially, that the low-lying country has no feasible future.
They’re going to live somewhere else, or, probably, people will go where they can and those 11,000 will become divided over great distances.
What a shame ðŸ«
It won’t be the last.
No it’s fine. You see, Trump knows better than the stupid scientists. While scientists adhere to logic, reason and evidence, Trump had something far more important.
Trump thinks for like two moments and then makes up his mind. This far surpasses the decades of evidence scientists have spent their life on producing.
Trump thinks it might be cooler some undetermined time in the future.
And since people prefer comfortable lies over uncomfortable truths, Trump turns out to be 1500% correct and eveyone else is atleast 2500% wrong.
>climate visa program
Oh yeah, eco-fascism here we come
So…what happens with the .tv domain? Will it be changed? Twitch.evac?
I wrote a 64 page paper my freshman year of college (two years ago) about this very thing. I discussed how climate enduced migration would lead to a humanitarian disaster. Boomers and Gen X complain to this day about the negatives hurricane Katrina did to the nation, by displacing all the residence across the U.S. (racist). Imagine how it’ll be now.
I also mentioned Tuvalu having to eventually evacuate and abandon the nation, with other lowland areas such as Florida, Louisiana, and Hawaii having to experience similar issues over the years.
I received a B- on that paper, because while “The research and content was good”, the “reality of such events happening are highly unlikely with international green initiatives and renewable energy becoming widely adopted”.
The Irony.
(Edit: Not to mention the issues of immigration itself, these people will be in a weird state of limbo when attempting to immigrate to other nations, as we don’t yet have paperwork or filings to sufficiently support such circumstances, and they may not be considered at all, or may be placed below asylum seekers, visa holders, etc.)
It’s the *first* entire country to be evacuated because of climate change. It won’t be the last.
They should see if any climate-denying billionaires want to buy their island…they should at least get their equity out of their land since climate change is a hoax. Maybe Donald Trump would like to buy it? I hear he likes private islands. Â
