I'm still using ASDA to make my receipts because they're the cleanest/simplest of the supermarket receipts. Ironically, Tesco receipts are the worst to make an acrostic poem, mainly due to their descriptions that are sometimes across two lines. Hence the heavily photoshopped/designed versions they've made for their ads. ASDA should have done this idea first imo.

  1. You’re such a weirdo – we’d get on well. Keep them coming, I love it.

I am a bit disappointed you didn’t go for a full “imitation is the sincerest form of flattery”, though

  2. I was so fucking confused for much longer than I care to admit.

“What does FLAT TE RED mean?”

    …flattered…ffs, brain.

  3. Took me too long to work out what FLAT TE RED meant 😡

  4. Random question but how do you know what things will be called on the receipt?

  5. Sunflower seeds

    Edam cheese

    Nicotine patches

    Dental floss

    Nectarines

    Umbrella

    Dog treats

    Eucalyptus oil

    Sultanas

  6. How do you know when you scan it that toothpaste won’t show up as like “Colgate Total” or whatever and ruin it?
And like with the Christmas tree one, did you keep every receipt for the prev month and count the letters to make it the right shape?
I do have to hand it to you. This is a lot of work.

  7. I would have been pissed not flattered personally, shoulda given you a small payout for the idea or some vouchers smh.

  8. In the US, I would have quantity, weight, unit price, brand, all crammed in there. Lemons, no weight or quantity? Toothpaste, no brand? Not much to go on if there is a recall or you are trying to return something.

  9. >Tesco receipts are the worst to make an acrostic poem, mainly due to their descriptions that are sometimes across two lines.

I love things like this. Just completely off the wall information that you’d only ever learn or notice if you’re delving deeply into something in a way that was never intended.

  10. What’s annoying is it’s almost certain they’ve nicked your idea – most advertising creative jobs nowadays are simply going online looking for ideas to steal.

  11. I think i might be dyslexic cos I read FLAT TURD 😭 you dont even spell turd with an ‘e’…

  12. Should have done it with an Aldi receipt, they’d have ran with it and pointed out the stolen idea

  13. Honestly I think you should kick up a bit of fuss about this. It’s a very unique idea and you’ve been had here mate.

Some marketing team at Tesco is getting a pat on their back for the unique marketing when really it’s you
