  1. STORP…. or ill say STORP agian……..”now in my sexy dutch accent” – “STORP”

  2. I think with this analogy, there would be masked men with vans on the other side of the fence. Referring of course to the fact that the verification is being done by companies probably selling our data.

  3. I think it’s closer to a gate with a knee high fence with it, since it is a mild annoyance and now everyone has to deal with the slower VPN speeds especially for free VPNs

  4. The online surveillance act is ultimately what has made me lose the last ounce of faith I once had in Westminster. I never thought the UK would become somewhere I’d need to have a vpn to safely navigate the internet but it’s slapped me in the face by showing how naïve I was. The UK has never given me a reason to be proud of it but this is a good reason to be ashamed of it

  5. If you don’t want a vpn, to not get around the new safety act, I definitely wouldn’t recommend ProtonVPN with its fast speeds and no sign in required for its free plan.

  6. One thing that really confuses (or indeed worries me) is that the policy makers would absolutely have known that VPN’s would circumvent this, yet they weren’t addressed by this bill critically undermining the effectiveness of its alleged purpose. But since its such a glaring hole in the purported purpose of the bill, why weren’t they targetted – is it a: because VPN’s don’t work as we believe they do b: another bill addressing VPN’s specifically is being formulated c: the original bill was merely a pantomime – but if so why the expenditure on implementation?

  7. This almost looks like it’s a grass is greener on the other side type of meme as well. Lol

  8. Most of the time I’m Dutch. Sometimes American and when it’s dire, Japanese. Thank you Proton.

  9. Only with reference to actual Porn, when it comes to health information and community resources for LGBT Youth we’re already starting to see some really grim consequences. Especially coupled with the government’s new “trans section 28” this is going to be really damaging for queer kids who are trying to figure out who they are and how to navigate society and interpersonal relationships safely.

Sure the consequences are annoying, inconvenient and ridiculous for straight people, but this law does actual harm alongside that. Especially in a society that is rapidly backsliding on LGBT issues and where conservatively minded people have a tendency to assume that every aspect of an LGBT person’s existence and the challenges they face must somehow be inherently sexual.

Internet censorship is the modern-day equivalent of book burnings, they control what aspects of reality are able to be learned about.

  10. This is actually a more accurate representation of the button you click to confirm you’re over 18 when accessing a porn website
