KALAMAZOO, Mich. (WILX) – On This day in Michigan history on July 25, 2010, an Enbridge pipeline leaked.
The leak resulted in over a million gallons of crude oil flowing into the Kalamazoo River, one of the largest inland oil spills in U.S. history.
The spill caused massive environmental damage, forced evacuations and cost millions in cleanup efforts.
The disaster prompted tougher regulations and long-term focus on pipeline safety in Michigan.
