  1. Guess he does not want to open a flank for Orban to attack him from. In reality, nobody in Europe is going to ask Hungary anyway. The tail does not wag the dog.

  2. Not fast-tracking Ukraine into the EU is a very normal position to have, and has nothing negative associated with it. Ukraine right now is not in a state where it can be fast-tracked into the EU, not just because of the war but because of the wide level of corruption at all levels of Ukrainian government.

  3. And his “party” voted against aid to Ukraine on multiple occasion, and against the plan to phase out Russian gas.

Despite this FideSS paints him as an ultra Ukraine supporter and a second Zelensky.

Also Tisza isn’t a real opposition party, they are an in system soft opposition group, ruled solely by Magyar. Magyar is an ex-fidesz member of atleast 15 years, and the party is full of similar people.

  4. Virtually nobody wants to fast-track Ukrainian ascension to the EU but only accept Ukraine after they have made thorough internal reforms. Hungary itself is the prime example why you should not fast-track an EU ascension.

  5. Ukraine deserves all the military and financial help it can get from the West…. But there are issues that the country needs to address before it can be “part of the West”.

Namely corruption and minority rights (Carpatho-Rusyns).
