Spain pushed us hard, but Hannah Hampton was superb.
This is the first (but definitely not the last!) women’s tournament that really drew me in. Fantastic talent out there — well done Lionesses!

I thought my husband was having a heart attack watching the penalties. It’s time for a big drink and to calm down.
Throughout 360 minutes of knockout football, England led for a total of 2 minutes.

Mad! Think Spain were playing better the majority of the game and we had our backs against it, but defensively we held up well (which is huge considering that was our weakness throughout the tournament).
Wonder why the pens on the whole were so low quality? I figured since the goalkeepers aren’t as big as in the men’s game that it would be easier to put the ball past them.
Great to see the sport growing, feel like the last Euros was a turning point so hopefully that continues.
Nail biting finish. Spain could have and maybe should have put England to the sword in normal time. They couldn’t finish. England did what England do best. Stubborn unwillingness to lose. True grit. Get in.

Amazing stuff. Hampton was fantastic throughout. One of those tournaments where we didn’t blow opponents out of the water but the way it went – last minute equalisers etc. – it weirdly felt almost inevitable?
Anyway. As a girl who grew up in the 90s and got ridiculed for my love of football, the Lionesses have done wonders for girls’ football. Well in ladies.

Being the 1966th person to like the headline has nice symbolism.
Yet another heart attack. Really need to work on technical skill though, the ball was glued to Spain’s feet, so many of our first touches were heavy and sloppy. We weren’t the better team overall, but given Spain’s incredible ability to find the floor at the slightest touch, we earned this.

Honestly so proud of this team. These girls show so much passion for the shirt and for each other, and they thrive on adversity.
Wiegman as well…just wow, three back to back finals and winning two of them.
Hope people turn out in their thousands to welcome them home, they deserve it.
The girl in the line up next to Prince William getting impatient to shake the next players hand and basically hovering over Prince William’s hand is killing me.
