The public are now getting a fresh glimpse of Prince William and Kate Middleton’s loving dynamic that has until now been hidden due to ‘ancient royal protocol’.

As the Princess of Wales returns to public life following her cancer treatment, the future King and Queen of England has let their guards down, allowing the public to see the tender side of her and her husband’s relationship.

At a hospital visit in Essex earlier this month – Kate’s first since pulling out of an appearance at Royal Ascot – she spoke openly about her life changing experience and recovering from chemotherapy.

She said that “you put on a sort of brave face” during treatment, yet it can still feel “really difficult” afterwards.

Speaking to the hospital’s patients about her post-cancer treatment life, she said: “You’re not able to function normally at home as you perhaps once used to.”

Body language expert Judi James told MailOnline that there since Kate’s illness there has been a “very comprehensive and delightful” change in William and Kate’s body language together which reveals their loving relationship.

She said: “Rather than see it as a sign that their relationship has intensified or changed, I would read from the ease and congruence of their behaviours together.”

Judi believes Kate and Wills have made a “conscious decision” to allow for glimpses of their romantic side; an aspect of their relationship that has always been present, but “masked due to their adherence to ancient royal protocols” and William’s “understandable wariness” about revealing too much.

She added that since Charles became king, there appears to be less “rigid adherence to protocol” than during the late Queen’s reign, which might have had an impact on the Wales’ new sense of “emotional freedom”.

Speaking about the couple’s surprise Wimbledon appearance, where Kate was in “full Gone with the Wind mode” with her accessories, Judi suggested Kate’s body language revealed her affection for William.

She said: “Her body language went full romantic novel mode as William stood looking down at her in his dashing blazer and celebrity shades.

“Kate bares her neck fully here in a flirt signal of trust and submission as she smiles up at William’s face.

“There’s even a hint of an old-fashioned, Southern Belle smitten gesture here, with her splayed hand being placed close to her upper chest.”

Judi went on to say that in Kate’s September 2024 video update on her chemotherapy “you could almost hear the cork coming out of the bottle in terms of finally allowing the world to see the depth of their love.”

She said: “Some of the scenes and their poses together were show-stopping, like the way they were lying together curled up like squirrels or sitting together with Kate hugging William as though never wanting to let him go”.

She added that the poses show a “totally synchronised couple” who were “much more relaxed and natural” compared to their “hands-off and formal behaviours” during their royal appearances.

Judi went on to say that she was curious to see if the video was just a one-off “treat for the fans and a glimpse of their love” or if Kate and William’s relaxed demeanour would continue, and that the couple’s body language continued to show romantic affection and that William is “clearly happy and delighted” to share his love for his wife with the world.

Speaking about Kate’s formal Trooping the Colour appearance earlier this year, Judi said William’s “rounded cheek-smile and lip suppressions” gave away his pride at having Kate by his side again.

Loving gazes and glances, hand-holding, back-touches and strokes reveal Kate’s affection for her husband, and could signal that Kate is saying that “she’s back to take care of him again”.

Judi adds: “Kate’s look of love with William now gets a reciprocal response every time.

“Even during the very formal State visit recently the couple walked together looking as flirty as teens on a date.”
