Slovak city Mujava will host the Champions League qualifying tournament, where Montenegrin women’s football will be represented by Podgorica’s Buducnost.
The host of Group 2 of the qualifying tournament is Slovakia’s Spartak, who will also be the Montenegrin champion’s first rival on July 30th.
With a win, Buducnost would secure a duel with the better of the match between Moldovan Agarista and Maltese Svegi United on August 2nd.
The winner of the tournament will secure a place in the Champions League, while a defeat would mean a clash with the underdog from the aforementioned second semi-final and a battle for third place in Group 2.
“Spartak Mujava recently won the title in Slovakia for the fifth time in a row, is the host of the qualifying tournament and is certainly the biggest favorite in our group. We scouted the opponent, we know what to expect, and our further ambitions will depend on that match,” said the coach of the Montenegrin champion, Dušan Globarević.
The future is setting off on its journey with a significantly changed squad compared to the championship team, which has written its names in the club’s annals.
Maša Tomašević, Nikolina Caković, Almina Hodžić and Slavica Krsteski left the team, and the new players are Milica Radunović (TSC), Indira Faković (ŽNK Split), Zerina Piskić (ŽNK Split), Lana Rusković (ŽNK Split), Merjema Medic (SFK Sarajevo), Karina Berikova (Bornova, Turkey), Ana Vlahović (Ilarion), Danica Reljić (ŽFK Mladost 2015).
“Everyone would like to have a team that finished the season and further strengthen it, but our mission is known: we want to develop players for the European level and create national team players, all for the benefit of women’s football in Montenegro. And we are doing well in that job,” said Globarević.
