    What we all forget is that DB is mostly in its current crisis because of shitty politicians who provided basically no funding for the infrastructure for decades.

    Not necessarily. I know the connection to Frankfurt quite well, and they usually make up for their delay on the section to Giessen.

  6. Yes; generally speaking, if possible important connecting trains will wait up to about five minutes or so. There is enough leeway in the timetable so that, as long as nothing else goes wrong, a small delay like that can in theory be made up.

    That doesn’t always work well, since the rail network is currently operating well over capacity, and Frankfurt Hbf is a notorious bottleneck (it’s a huge terminus handling more trains than it was designed for), so you might still arrive late. On the other hand, I have in the past been on an ICE train that was operating with a 20-minute delay when I boarded but got me to my destination nearly two minutes early, so anything’s possible.
