3. Yeah, it’s a mistake in the translation from English to German.

   When you’re translating something like this, you have a styleguide and glossary to adhere to. In this case, the Peppa Pig series itself also serves as the reference. Madame Gazelle, obviously supposed to be French, is only ever referred to as “Madame Gazelle”, both in English and in the corresponding German dub.

4. I’m new to this Peppa Pig game since my son has been interested in it for about three weeks. But I’ve learned that Madame Gazelle is French — in the audio, she speaks with a strong French accent. So maybe that’s why.

5. She’s always Madame Gazelle. Frau Gazelle is not technically wrong, but probably just a slip-up.

6. Does anyone happen to know what the same page looks like in the original English? Perhaps it’s called “Ms. Gazelle” at this point, and was therefore translated as “Frau Gazelle” and not “Madame Gazelle”?

7. The Peppa Wutz books are just lazy transcriptions of the German dubbed TV episodes. I don’t think there are any translators involved here at all (they were when translating the series), and this is just a laziness error by someone underpaid to do the job.

8. Hm. Not necessarily. This is a book for children, right? How are they supposed to know what “Madame” means? Maybe the translator opted to once leave “Madame” and at other times write “Frau”.

9. In the TV series she’s consistently referred to as Madame, emphasizing her french descent. 

   “Frau” ist correct, just stylistically inconsistent

11. It’s a very very serious mistake. If you have bought this book you could be entitled to compensation.
