The right-back joined Rovers a few weeks ago but has been patient to get his first match action of pre-season. After holding him back against Everton, Valerien Ismael loosened the lead and gave Alebiosu a combined 60 minutes against Qatar SC and Elche.

Alebiosu was quick to respond and show what he can do. A very attacking, pacey right-back who will offer Rovers plenty at the top end of the pitch. He spent most of the Elche game ahead of his right-winger but has the physical attributes to bomb up and down.

With more than 500 fans in attendance to watch, Alebiosu was delighted to get his first minutes on the pitch.

“I’ve enjoyed it, I’m settling into the group who have been really welcoming to me as well,” Alebiosu told The Lancashire Telegraph from inside the Pinatar Arena.

“Getting game time under your belt is always nice. I’ve seen the ways the boys play, how they play with the shape and other tactical things. We’ve played two games and won them both so it feels good.

“It was nice to see the fans coming out to support us, too. It’s been an enjoyable experience. We just want to keep going from strength to strength.

“The aim for me is to kick on and try to build some momentum. I want to show everyone what I can do, I know what I can bring with the attacking side.

“There are some very good players in my position and we’re all pushing each other to be the best we can be to help the team. It’s good healthy competition.”

It was an important week for those arriving at Ewood Park this summer. An opportunity to bond with the team-mates and work more intimately with head coach, Ismael.

With such a high-pressing style, learning the right triggers and situations to apply pressure are key. That comes with time and quality coaching on the training pitches.

“Pre-season camps are always really important, especially as a new player,” he explained.

“It’s always beneficial because it’s easier to gel with the group, you learn things about different people, how they operate. It’s been really worthwhile and a great camp t be part of.

“Working with the gaffer too, learning the way we press, which is a key element in our game, off the ball. The different types of movements and when we engaged.

“He’s shown me the way he wants to press, especially as a full-back who has a lot of energy. As much as I love to attack, defensive too, I have to be able to go up and down.

“So he’s been talking me through what he wants me to do. It’s given me a better understanding of the way we play and different tactics, the way he wants me to play.

“To fit into the group, that’s a bonus for me.”

Alebiosu is returning to English football after his days in the Arsenal Academy. Two loans North of the border proved fruitful, too after his switch to Belgium, which gave him a good life lesson at a young age.

The pitch of Blackburn Rovers was strong and proved to be the right opportunity at the right moment for Alebiosu this summer.

“I went out to Belgium for a different culture and a different experience. I enjoyed it,” he says.

“I learned a lot, I went out there quite young. But when Valerien called me and told me about this project and how he could help to improve me, take me to the next level, I knew it was the right thing to do. The right move for me.

“The way the team players, it’s beneficial for my game. I’m really excited for the new season, to be honest, and the team can’t wait either. Pre-season has gone well, we’ve been winning.

“Hopefully, we can bring that to the Championship as well and keep that momentum. I’m looking to get more fitness, more minutes into my legs and then be ready as soon as it’s time for that first game of the season.”

We’re speaking after the victory over Elche as the Spanish sun descends, marking the end of Rovers’ week-long camp. The La Liga outfit were tough opponents but one that Blackburn got through.

“It was a tough game. They’re a first division side now, so they battled it out,” he added.

“We know that we had to be physical and assert ourselves on the game. That helped us against a very tough opponent who kept the ball.

“It’s what we need, especially in the Championship, there will be games like that. Seeing elements of this game and how we stuck together as a team and got the time, it’s a learning experience.

“That will help us improve and go further, so it’s been a good game and a great week.”
