Prince Harry and Meghan Markle aren’t having a good month, after it was reported that Netflix wouldn’t be renewing its $100M deal with them due to poor ratings for With Love, Meghan and Polo.
Interestingly, a surprising royal voice is speaking out in Prince Harry’s defense – Princess Delphine of Belgium. The royal family member, who is famously known as the love child of former Belgian King Albert II and Baroness Sybille de Selys Longchamps, voiced her support for the Duke of Sussex on the It’s Reigning Men podcast, saying she believes that he has “suffered” throughout his life, and has been “traumatized” by his mother’s death. Princess Delphine Of Belgium Sympathizes With Prince Harry
The 57-year-old Belgian royal explained that she has always felt connected to Prince Harry, largely due to how much she loved and admired his mother, the late Princess Diana.
“She was just sunshine, in the news especially,” Delphine told podcast host Daniel Rosney. “I feel very sorry for Harry, because I think that was traumatic for him,” she continued, in reference to her tragic death in 1997.

“I think Harry has suffered so much. He was traumatized, and it’s coming out now,” she continued, before going to say that his actions – i.e., dropping bombshells in Spare and feuding with his father, King Charles, and brother, Prince William – are somewhat understandable given what he has gone through in the past.
She speculated: “He’s just traumatized, and so he’s doing these things and everyone is just bullying him but not thinking about his trauma, and I just find it terrible.”

The Internet Doesn’t Feel The Same Way
Unsurprisingly, her comments sparked major backlash online, as the public didn’t seem to be on the same page and buying the sympathy angle.
“No amount of trauma exempts a traumatized person from being held accountable for hurting others. Harry is not being bullied. The public is holding him accountable for his words and actions,” wrote one person on a New York Post article.
“Oh please – enough with the trauma and sympathy for Harry. Millions of children unfortunately lose their parents at a relatively young age and turn out fine. He had a loving support system and plenty of money for therapy. It’s just too much already and needs to stop,” slammed a second.

“Harry’s being judged for his outrageous behavior that has hurt a lot of people from the queen on down,” commented a third, adding: “I won’t list the abuse that he and his wife have heaped onto others, but that behavior is what’s brought the criticism. Does Princess Delphine have no concern for the feelings of their victims? Maybe if they treated her the way they’ve treated family she’d be less sympathetic to them. Harry needs to change.”
“Oh, come on, Delphine. Harry plays the victim and throws Diana under the bus every time he needs attention and that’s constantly,” thought a fourth reader. They added: “It’s no wonder people have zero sympathy for him and yet, you think he’s being bullied? He brings it all on himself.”
