King Charles and Prince William were notably missing from a victory parade which passed through Buckingham Palace on Tuesday to celebrate a key event.
On Sunday, the whole royal family, alongside U.K., rejoiced as the Lionesses triumphed over Spain during a grilling Women’s Euro Final in Switzerland.
As the team returned home with the trophy, a parade was held to honour the team. While the parade passed by the HQ of royal family, none of the senior members were in attendance.
The Buckingham Palace shared highlights from the parade with a special message set to the tune of Daft Punk’s hit One More Time.
“Welcome home, ladies,” it stated simply but also tagged manager Sarina Wiegman, the Lionesses and the England football team.
It is believed that the Prince and Princess of Wales are currently taking a break from their royal duties during the children are off for school summer holidays.
Meanwhile, the monarch is in Scotland for his summer break.
However, the royals have not shied in their support for the Lionesses. Prince William attended the final match with his daughter, Princess Charlotte, to show support for the team.
Moreover, the king wrote a personal message for the team before and after the winning match to lift their morales.
“For more years than I care to remember, England fans have sung that famous chant ‘football’s coming home’,” the monarch penned.
“As you return home with the trophy you won at Wembley three years ago, it is a source of great pride that, through sporting skill and awesome teamwork, the Lionesses have made those words ring true. For this, you have my whole family’s warmest appreciation and admiration.”
