I was reading about Princess Diana’s and Charles wedding. I remember watching it when it happened, so it was a bit of a trip down memory lane.
But one of the things I stumbled upon was people talking about how Camilla wore white to this wedding. The photo shows this. But it also shows some other woman wearing white.
In Britain wearing white to a wedding is a big no no. You just don’t do it. Guests will shy away from anything similar to white as well. White, ivory, cream is reserved for the bride only.
So is the etiquette different for royal weddings or aristocratic weddings? Because this just puzzles me as I had thought royal weddings would be even more strict about etiquette than most weddings.

I think there was a post here a long time ago about this. Camilla was apparently not wearing white and yes, she wasn’t the only person wearing light colour
Famously, Pippa Middleton wore a white dress as a member of her sister’s bridal party.
I doubt it’s a big no no in aristocratic or posh circles. Princess Anne basically wore white to Charles and Diana’s wedding. I can see it would matter more at a wedding where a bride isn’t wearing an obvious ‘wedding dress’. We’re meant to dress up for weddings in the UK. Hence the hats etc
I bet this view it’s frowned upon has come from social media/the USA
Can’t imagine having to sit there watching the man you love marrying someone else.
In one of the interviews she gave, Diana said, “and there was Camilla in a grey dress.”
It just looks white on horrible, grainy1980s film.
