Moin everyone!
A question to all Immoscout24 users. How come the price is different for different platforms? Checked on Android vs iPhone and iPad, Windows vs Mac. I mean, the price difference for different platforms for some stuff is a well-known thing (e.g. tickets, etc) but this?!

  1. What the hell it’s 20-26 bucks a month when you’re going for 6 month minimum. I hate that Plattform and that it’s a must in many cities.
To answer your question, I don’t know why this is, but it does not feel legal at all. Maybe contact Verbraucherschutz on this one? I am not legally trained though, so maybe I’m in the wrong

  2. Trick:

Buy it for 6 months, spam as many ads, then cancel it. Pray you get a reply / appartment.

Rinse and repeat. So you only pay for the days you actually had it instead of the entire 6 months.

    Edit: In the 14-day window.

  3. Actually both Apple and Google Charge 30% comisson on in-app purchases, which is why I don’t understand why it’s cheaper on the iOS….

  4. Pro tip: you have the right to revert the contract within 14 days. You will get the money back (or at least some parts if you used the service).

You can make a new subscription the next day and then cancel it again within 14 days. So when you found an apartment you no longer need to pay and the money you do pay is less than 20€ per month!

  5. Ok this is “differential pricing” based on device. This is extremely controversial at best and illegal at worst.

I haven’t looked into this myself but I would urge you to report this to your local data protection authority in your Bundesland. To do that: look up “supervisory data authority” in your Bundesland. Then you can make a free and simple report and they will look into it.

To me, this does not look legal.

    Info dump below.
    Legal and Regulatory Background
    • Price Transparency: Under the German Price Indication Ordinance (Preisangabenverordnung, PAngV), prices must be displayed truthfully and clearly, including all VAT and shipping costs, and must be easily visible on all devices. Dynamic pricing (including device-based) is not outright banned but must be transparent—any use of dynamic or personalized pricing must not mislead or confuse customers. Fines for violations can reach up to €25,000.
    • GDPR and Consent: Any pricing strategy that uses personal data or device information is subject to the strict requirements of the EU General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) and the national Telecommunications Telemedia Data Protection Act (TTDPA). This means companies must clearly inform users and obtain valid consent before personalizing prices using device or account data.
    • Disclosure Obligations: If device-based price differences are implemented, they must be disclosed to the consumer, and companies are required to provide an explanation if questioned by regulatory bodies.

  6. I have two phones, android and iPhone.
Googled Immoscout plus and clicked the first (sponsored) link
    – Android is 19.99€ / 6 months
    – iPhone is 29.99€ / 6 months
Maybe you clicked on different links with both devices?

  7. How nice of them to charge iPhone users less, cause they must be poor after buying those over-expensive phones /s

  8. That’s quite normal, they probably just AB-tested the hell out of it and found these prices to be the sweet spot for Android and iOS users. A lot of apps do this, the only thing that surprises me is that usually its the other way around and iOS users pay the higher prices.
