The Belgian national basketball team will face the 2025 EuroBasket without two of its NBA players, Ajay Mitchell and Toumani Camara.

Oklahoma City Thunder‘s Mitchell will miss the European Championship to rest and recover from a tough season and foot injury but remains motivated to play for Belgium in the future.

Portland Trail Blazers‘s Toumani Camara is also eager to represent Belgium but is focusing on advancing his NBA career this summer.

“Ajay Mitchell will not participate in the European Championship with the Belgian Lions. After a long and demanding season and a foot injury, he has decided to rest and recover for the new NBA season. He remains motivated to play for Belgium and looks forward to the opportunities that will arise in the coming years. Toumani Camara is also eager to play for the national team. However, this summer is not the ideal time to join the Belgian Lions, as he is focused on taking an important next step in his NBA career,” according to an official announcement from the Belgium Basketball Federation.

Their absence leaves Belgium without key NBA talent for the upcoming European Championship, but both players remain motivated to contribute to the team in the years ahead.

Belgium’s preliminary squad for EuroBasket includes Ismael Bako, Noel Coleman, Niels De Ridder, Mamadou Guissé, Archange Izaw Bolavie, Emmanuel Lecomte, Siebe Ledegen, Joppe Mennes, Jean-Marc Mwema, Retin Obasohan, Milan Samardzic, Loic Schwartz, Godwin Tshimanga, Kevin Tumba, Andy Van Vliet, and Hans Vanwijn.

Additionally, Elias Lasisi, Michael Gilmore, and Niels Van den Eynde have joined the team.
