The Moldovan government has blocked the HaiTV app and website for illegally broadcasting banned content from Russia and Belarus, government spokesperson Daniel Voda announced, as reported by Newsmaker on July 30.
According to Voda, the decision followed multiple complaints, including from the country’s Audiovisual Council.
“This app distributes content that is banned in Moldova and promotes military propaganda and threats to the country’s information security,” he said.
In recent days, Moldovan residents began receiving mass messages via Viber, encouraging them to download the HaiTV app or visit an affiliated website. Authorities believe this was a coordinated attempt to circumvent Moldova’s ban on broadcasting Russian propaganda channels.

“State institutions know how to respond. Coordination and a professional approach are essential to protect national interests. HaiTV has already been blocked in Moldova,” Voda emphasized.
Moldovan media added that the HaiTV app provided access to approximately a dozen television channels, including MD24, a network connected to convicted pro-Russian politician Ilan Shor.
Alongside the app, two affiliated websites were also active—one registered under a Moldovan domain and the other under an international domain.
Earlier, Moldovan President Maia Sandu warned of an unprecedented Russian interference campaign ahead of the country’s parliamentary elections scheduled for September.
Sandu noted the Kremlin is backing multiple political projects designed to help its allies gain seats in the next parliament. According to her, these efforts are being coordinated from a single center and are largely financed through schemes connected to fugitive oligarch Ilan Shor.
