Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Transport and Communications, Aleksandar Nikolloski, said that the key difference between this Government and the previous one is that this Government works and delivers results, unlike years ago when there was stagnation and nothing was done.
He mentioned the realization of the railway from corridors 8 and 10.
“We have said that we will not spend over half a billion euros of local taxpayers’ money on projects that end in a blind tunnel, and for this reason we have entered into serious talks with Bulgaria to ask them to invest as well. We had three requests, a month ago Bulgaria accepted the three requests. The first request was to build their missing part, the second request was from Sofia to Gjueshevo where there is a railway on paper, but it is non-functional, to invest money and build it, while the third request was for the tunnel to be built completely,” said Nikoloski.
As Nikoloski informed, the final version of the text that must be signed by both parties is being discussed, while Bulgaria has also announced a tender for the construction of a completely new railway on the Sofia – Gjueshevo route.
The next phase, as he announced, will be talks with Albania to build the western part of Corridor 8.
