Zelensky, moving to defuse crisis, restores power of anti-graft agencies • FRANCE 24 English
With their eyes glued to a live stream of the vote in Ukraine’s parliament, these protesters celebrated the result. On Thursday, lawmakers voted 331 to zero in favor to approve a bill that restores the independence of the country’s main anti-corruption watchd dogs, fulfilling the president’s promise to reverse a controversial law. This is definitely an interim victory for civil society. First and foremost, we’ve shown ourselves, the government, society, and international partners. We’re ready to move steadily towards European integration, towards transparent, independent institutions and government accountability. Vladimir Zalinski’s ruling party had passed a law that put the National Anti-Corruption Bureau and the Specialized Anti-Corruption Prosecutor’s Office under the direct authority of a prosecutor named by the president. It sparked Ukraine’s largest public rallies since Russia’s full-scale invasion and criticism from rights groups and the European Union. Brussels had been worried Zalinski’s previous law would undermine anti-corruption reforms key to Ukraine’s bid to join the EU. On Thursday, Ukraine’s foreign minister took to social media to affirm the country was committed to reforms and the fight against corruption on its path to the EU and NATO, adding, “We got it fixed.” The two anti-corruption agencies have stepped up a closely watched campaign against Graft since Moscow’s 2022 invasion, producing charges against lawmakers and senior government officials.
President Volodymyr Zelensky restored the independence of Ukraine’s two main anti-corruption agencies on July 31, moving to defuse a political crisis that has shaken faith in his wartime leadership and worried Western partners.

Oops, there goes the gravy train
Well nothing will change. Same people different entities, businesses as usual.
Just funny how Ukrainian people react to protect those corrupt politicians who really have done nothing just using funds from EU for their game of fame and money.
Some how we didn’t see those people protesting for corruption and selling eggs to those who look in the eyes of death everyday like they were gold, stilling money from government funds when fighting war.
Did those organisations brought to justice those criminals in government? They simply handing cases to local police and that is the end of their investigation.
I would never be on side of Zelenskyy but his administration and those agencies are corrupted and people so stupid to take sides vs taking sides of their freedom or they should check facts what Russian did 1933 and after 1945. Looks like they love Siberia slavery.
Protests work
Was listening France chanson 🎵 and I grove up in soviet Russian propaganda and I remember when they called France chanson that was Russian chanson, what a creature those Russian labelling as they what belongs to others.
Little communist.
American politicians just lost their mineral deal backhanders! 😅😅😂🤣
They needed a good shake-up, especially considering how corrupt most "anti-corruption" organizations tend to be.
Zelensky has not restored the Authority of the anti corruption bodies..he has just reversed the bill to destroy it…his heart has not changed…don't be mislead
