Commonwealth Sport has confirmed that Malta will host the 8th edition of the Commonwealth Youth Games in 2027.

The official announcement was made yesterday [July 31] during a launch event at Verdala Palace, where the Host Collaboration Agreement for the Games was formally signed.

Malta 2027 is set to welcome more than 1,150 young athletes, aged 14 to 18, representing the 74 member nations and territories of the Commonwealth.

The Games will feature a diverse sport programme comprising eight disciplines.

For the first time in Youth Games history, sailing and water polo will be included, joining athletics and para-athletics, netball, squash, swimming and para swimming, triathlon, and weightlifting.

Notably, Malta 2027 will showcase the most extensive para sport programme in the history of the Commonwealth Youth Games.

The addition of para swimming marks a significant step forward in inclusivity for young athletes with disabilities.
