The biggest party of the summer continues tonight as WWE Summerslam takes place in New Jersey.

It is the 38th annual edition of WWE Summerslam, marking the eighth WWE Premium Live Event (PLE) to be streamed on Netflix after the Royal Rumble, Elimination Chamber, WrestleMania 41, Backlash, Money in the Bank, Night of Champions and Evolution.

Debuting all the way back August 1988, this event has been transformed over the past three-and-a-half decades. One of the promotion’s five biggest events of the calendar year, Summerslam is widely considered second to only WrestleMania.

Just like the ‘showcase of the immortals’ this year, for the first-time ever, Summerslam is a two-night event and night one kicked off with rapper Cardi B serving as the event’s hostess.

An extra night means more matches and some of the biggest names in the company are on the card, including John Cena as he defends the Undisputed WWE championship in a street fight against Cody Rhodes.

Naomi’s first defence of the Women’s world championship is a triple threat match against Rhea Ripley and IYO SKY. Solo Sikoa and Jacob Fatu will be locked in a steel cage for the WWE United States title.

Caution: Naomi will have her work cut out in her first title defence

AJ Styles finally gets his match with WWE Intercontinental champion Dominik Mysterio and the pressure is on Lyra Valkyria because if she loses to Becky Lynch in a no disqualification, no count-out match, she can no longer challenge for the WWE Women’s Intercontinental title as long as Lynch is champion.

The WWE tag team titles will be suspended above the ring in a six-pack TLC (tables, ladders, and chairs) match where the champions The Wyatt Sicks are at a massive disadvantage.

Already at Summerslam, Roman Reigns and Jey Uso beat the team of Bron Breakker and Bronson Reed. Sami Zayn settled a score with Karrion Kross and, Charlotte Flair and Alexa Bliss are the new WWE Women’s tag team champions after their victory over Raquel Rodriguez and Roxanne Perez.

Elsewhere musician Jelly Roll was impressive on his in-ring debut but was ultimately pinned by Logan Paul in a tag team match featuring Randy Orton and Drew McIntyre.

Jade Cargill – the 2025 Queen of the Ring – was unsuccessful in her attempts to dethrone WWE Women’s champion Tiffany Stratton, while Gunther lost the World Heavyweight championship to CM Punk.
