A purpose-built indoor and outdoor playground where kids can play freely and parents can relax.

Simon, originally from the UK, and his wife, from Germany, had called Dubai home for over 20 years. But with a growing family and a desire for a milder climate, safe, family-friendly environment and the option to be closer to their parents and grandparents, around 6 years ago they began the search for a new place to put down roots.

With their two daughters, at that time 5 year old and younger, one recently born, they set their sights on the Algarve. Stunning coastline, welcoming environment, relaxed lifestyle, and reputation for safety were the main aspects why they decided to explore the region thoroughly. From the easy-going vibe of Lagos to the elegance of the Almancil area and the quiet beauty of Ferragudo, each town offered something unique.

After several visits and much consideration, it was Sesmarias that won them over. Family-friendly vibe, and sense of community made the perfect fit, and it felt like the perfect place to raise their family — a true new beginning in the heart of southern Portugal.

A dream play space becoming a reality

As they started to settle into their new life in the Algarve, enjoying the beach and warm weather, they were looking for different entertainment options for their children. Something like they were used to back in Dubai, a soft play area and a space designed for both younger and older children. In the Algarve and especially in the Lagoa area is a lack of similar places; the few existing ones are available only for birthday parties. That’s when the idea began. They will create a place for children where they can play freely, and parents can relax. Looking for an adequate space wasn’t easy, as they wanted a spacious building with outdoor potential. After a long search, they discovered what they were looking for in Alcantarilha, ideally situated near the national road.

Determined to do everything perfectly and professionally, they found a specialist company to help them create a custom-made indoor playground tailored to their vision. Their team include a skilled chef, a bar manager, a promotion and marketing lead and other essential employees. There will also be a children’s supervision for parents can enjoy a moment for themselves. Their dream of bringing high-quality family entertainment to the Algarve is about to become a reality.

Not just a typical play area

Adventure HQ offers multitude of activities and challenges giving child ability to run, climb and play no matter the weather. For the little ones there is a dedicated area featuring a cute play bakery and a miniature supermarket complete with a till, and all the accessories needed for a pretend play.

My favourite part is colourful netted structures, hanging nets and neon coloured globe swings. I saw something similar once, but I haven’t seen nothing like this in Portugal before.

Expansive soft play section with tunnels to crawl through, slides, from simple indoor slides to more elaborate multi-level structures and high-speed slides with impressive heights for the more daring ones. Everything made for children to explore safely.

Trampolines invite kids to jump, bounce and try out their best acrobatic moves. There are obstacle trails and adventure zones that challenge both body and mind, offering endless opportunities to climb, slide, swing, and explore.

And coming soon: an interactive gaming room filled with physical and mental challenges that combine digital fun with real movement — perfect for curious minds and active bodies.

Adventure HQ isn’t just an entertainment centre; an important part of the experience is their restaurant and café. Here, you don’t find any processed food; all the meals are done on the spot from fresh ingredients. The kids-friendly menu offers plenty of flexibility — take the classic pizza, made with tomato, cheese, and oregano, then customise it with your child’s favourite toppings. Meat and fish lovers will find plenty of delicious options. I’m excited to try healthy options as caprese salad or my personal favourite – Gazpacho soup. Cold plates for sharing are also a great option for parents while their little ones are playing.

Your new favourite family spot

Full of adventures, packed with engaging features, challenging trails, impressive slides and captivating obstacles, still, Adventure HQ is more than just a play area, it’s a family friendly space where parents can work remotely with high-speed internet available and enjoy a good meal and spend quality time together.
