A 32-year-old woman from California was rescued Saturday after she hurt her ankle after falling while hiking the Waipoo Falls Trail in Kokee.
The Kauai Fire Department got a call for an injured hiker shortly after 1:20 p.m. Saturday, according to a KPD news release.
Firefighters from the Waimea fire station hiked about a quarter mile along Waipoo Falls trail and found the woman.
She was alert and responsive but couldn’t walk.
“Firefighters stabilized the injury with a splint and used a litter and wheel to carry the patient off the trail,” read the release.
The hiker was treated and taken to the Puu Hina Hina parking lot, where American Medical Response personnel evaluated her.
