Never tried them but they intrigue me seeing how theres a huge selection of them in the supermarkets. What do eat them with?

  1. They’re pretty nice

Kind of like a pickle that makes you cry if that helps

    Have them with some cheese

  2. I eat them with cheese and cocktail sausages. Or with sausage rolls.

    They’re good.

  3. Hi.yes they are fab. Have them on a crusty white stick of bread, butter, cheese, ham.

    BOOOM – Epic combo

  4. have them diced up in a tuna/mayo sandwich, adds some amazing flavour and texture

  5. If you’ve never eaten them ever then the gateway is the tiny little ‘silverskin’ white pickled onions.

Good with any kind of salad 😀

  6. Imho yes, but only the sour-pickled onions. Not a fan of the sweet-pickled onions.

  7. They’re excellent and there’s also several kinds. The posh balsamic ones are much milder and might be a good place to start if you’re new to them. The ones with chilli in them can be pretty hot. Have them with cold snacky foods; cheese, cold meats, cucumber/tomato, potato salad, beetroots… you can also slice them and add to a cheese sandwich, but you should check whether you like them first, I wouldn’t start there. The tiny ones are also good in a martini in place of cocktail olives, and then that’s called a gibson.

  8. Start with silverskin and build to the big ones.

Eat with salad, pork pies, cheese or just straight from the jar when your mouth needs a zing.

  9. I make my own with homegrown chillies people seem to like them.

  10. Cocktail picks + pickled onions, pickled cucumbers, pickled peppers and pickled herrings.

  11. You can also branch out into what type you like. Small ones or the big fat juicy crunchy ones.

  12. They’re the tits.

That said I really like sour things.

I could sit there with a fork, eat the full jar and then drink the juice

  13. >*^(What do eat them with?)*

    A fork

Difficult to spear them with a knife and using a spoon involves scooping up too much vinegar

  14. Some are better than others! Personally I like them crunchy, not too sweet, and make me wince a little.

A good strong cheese is all you really need, on their own or in a sandwich – toasted sandwich if you’re feeling fahncy

  15. Huge range of flavours from quite sweet to blow your head off strong

  16. Yeah, they’re incredible – particularly with cheese and some crusty bread. Do yourself a favour and get some from a local farm shop or something though (supermarkets do half decent ones too actually, Garner’s is the brand if memory serves).

  17. Yes even better when you make your own and you can mix up the onion and vinegar or add stuff for contrast like grapes or apple or for instance red wine vinegar and red onion but bog standard is also great which is how you know its a good snack but I love anything pickled so maybe I’m biased

  18. To me I always got some on hand chop one or 2 up add to any salad or pasta salad and the vinegar itself I always use on chips 10/10

  19. They are nectar from heaven. My God, have you never had one? What a wonderful world awaits you, once you have popped that first lid.

  20. RIP Barry Norman pickled onions. Christmas has never been the same in our house.

  21. Have them with cheese preferably a cheddar and they are lovely on their own they might be a bit much

  22. My nan made the best pickled onions I ever ate.

She died twenty years ago without telling anyone her recipe or method.

I still have one single pickled onion of hers in a jar in a cupboard. And there it will stay.

  23. I make cocktail sticks on special occasions and have them on it. I was born in 93 so grew up with home buffets and used to have pickled onions, cheese, hot dog and pineapple on a cocktail sticks
