I’m pooped this morning, after not sleeping well… Still on sick leave and still bored.
Luckily I’ll be meeting a friend for coffee and a chat later, so that’s keeping me going.
Currently I’m trying to organise a meetup with my friends, we’re all scattered around the country and 3 of them have young kids. Trying to line our schedules up is a nightmare!
Start of a week off, currently in bed feeling very cosy while its throwing down outside
I’ve booked the day off work as yesterday was my birthday and we all knew there would be a hangover. Currently in bed with tea and small regret that the head is as sore. Out for a walk later and maybe some baking so it’s not a wasted day
A lovely weekend just gone! Went to my brother’s on Friday night, stayed over and headed back home via Montacute House, a gorgeous NT place near Yeovil. Then yesterday we did the Corfe to Swanage steam train with the boy – his first time on a train! A great time had by all!
I don’t want to go to work.
Playing the in and out game with my cat this morning who is too stupid to realise that yes it is still raining. Same as it was 5 minutes ago, same as the 5 minutes before that.
Stop crying to go out I don’t control the weather!
Good luck to anyone coping with the worst of storm Floris today.
I am compiling a list of online tutorials and exams for the company so that the marketing and sales teams can get certified in the new software the company has bought.
Shitty night sleep, was this close to calling in sick but then got the paranoia/shame of calling in sick. Currently on the train being bashed by some clueless commuters backpack, so it’s all been worth it.
I’m having to head into the office this morning, *(on a Monday?! Blasphemy!)*, as our video conferencing kits decided to update last week and essentially brick themselves.
Well annoying that companies seem to do less and less testing these days, meaning that the customer/end user ends up being the guinea pig.
PMSing badly. Planning on going to M&S or possibly travel further afield to satisfy cake craving. Got a couple of posts saved on “best cookies in London” and similar.
I should be applying for jobs but not sure it will happen today.
Gotta deep clean skirting boards in bathroom as new lino being laid on Thursday
2 weeks into the summer holidays, we’re having our first “muddle through” day, which means we both try and WFH while looking after our 5 year old daughter. Since it’s hard for us both to book enough holidays to cover the 6 weeks, we’ll have to do it this way.
So far so good, but then again it’s not even 9’clock.
I’m in the kitchen and can hear Floris’ rain battering the conservatory so it’s quite relaxing.
I woke myself up yesterday by biting the side of my tongue, and the day went downhill from there.
Slept horribly last night and now here I am at work feeling sorry for anyone who annoys me today.
My mother in law is at the end stage of life so it has been an emotional weekend with family visiting to say their goodbyes. As selfish as it sounds, I’m happy to be at work just to take my mind off things for a bit.
Been up since 5:30 due to workmen and needing to move everything I may need for the next 24 hours downstairs.
Also scandalised by something I ordered from John Lewis being handed over to Evri for delivery. John Lewis, using Evri!
The start of a hellish two weeks at work from today. Manager has authorised (again) too many holidays at one time, including her own, so a team that should be 10-12 people is down to 4-5 with the same workloads & expectations.
No evening shift cover for two weeks (so we’re expected to cover an hour or so where needed), and because of course, the other management at her level & above decide to go on holiday too lol.
Even funnier is that there’s only going to be 2-3 of us in the team who go into the office… and we’re still expected to go in twice a week even though its going to be deader than dead, with nobody in 😀
Having spent most of the summer holidays outside hiking, wild swimming, biking and being in the sea I am not looking forwards to spending the next day or 2 inside due to the storm.
Neither me or the 6 year old deal well with being cooped up all day.
The power going out is a case of when, not if, as well, so that’s fun.
Day off for me. Walked the dog early to avoid the rain. Sitting with a strong cup of coffee watching the birds in the garden.
Today is the day I fix my car. So happy.
Gonna have the old man backseating me on how to do it but I wouldn’t have it any other way
I couldn’t get to sleep til 4am. FML.
Didn’t sleep well at all due to only dropping off about 2:30 and waking at 3:00 with a spider crawling on me. Didn’t really snooze until 8:00. I need to motivate myself to get some chores done. The storm is fair picking up, although the rain was bucketing down at 3am.
Smallest child has recovered from whatever bug hit her yesterday but we are following the 48 hour rule so I have had to say no to biggest child asking to go to soft play today, we will go once littlest isn’t in quarantine.
As a consolation prize I’ve told biggest she can cook dinner tonight, she’s gotten into the idea of being able to cook so I’m going to teach her to make muffin tin frittatas.
I’m still not coping well with my new meds, and they’re still not helping with pain, I’ve been informed now that it takes 4-6 weeks, so basically I get to deal with side effects and no improvement for my whole holiday and should start to feel some pain relief when I go back to work (at which, inevitably, the pain gets worse because I’m not good at pacing myself when at work!) so I’m in a bit of a rotten mood. Hoping cooking with the kiddos will help.
Sitting trying and failing to WFH while watching my already battered fence get blown about in the storm less than a week before I got someone coming to fix it up. If it blows over now I’ll be raging
dogsitting for my parents this week which is nice. nearly finished a project for my apprenticeship which feels good!
car in for service & MOT today. First one since we got this car (almost) a year ago and it’s a 2018 plate so it SHOLUD be fine. gone to the main dealership where we bought it approved used with a 24 month warranty so if anything does flag up it’s unlikely we’d need to shell out for it, still getting that MOT anxiety though.
