Meghan Markle’s time as a working royal may have been brief, but she certainly experienced quite the royal lifestyle.
Despite the short span from her 2018 marriage to Prince Harry to their departure from the royal family in 2020, Meghan did enjoy the privilege of living in two royal residences.
Before tying the knot in 2018, Meghan shared Prince Harry‘s modest home, Nottingham Cottage, situated on the grounds of Kensington Palace. It was in this cozy setting that Harry popped the question to his bride-to-be. It comes after Meghan’s shocking real role in Harry’s estrangement from his family was exposed.
After their wedding, Meghan and Harry moved to Frogmore Cottage on the Windsor estate, a generous wedding gift from the late Queen Elizabeth II.
Despite growing quite fond of their Windsor home, it’s rumored that the Duke and Duchess of Sussex initially had their hearts set on a different royal property.
In his 2023 tell-all book Spare, Harry reminisced warmly about their home, expressing, “We loved that place.
“From the first minute. It felt as if we were destined to live there. We couldn’t wait to wake up in the morning, go for a long walk in the gardens, check in with the swans. Especially grumpy Steve.
“We met the Queen’s gardeners, got to know their names and the names of all the flowers. They were thrilled at how much we appreciated, and praised, their artistry.”
After stepping back from royal duties in 2020, Harry and Meghan have settled into a vast Montecito estate in America, reportedly larger than any of their former royal homes.
