There’s not a huge amount of good reasons to live in Nottingham but the local bus never fails to deliver (Gotham is a suburb and they had to concrete in the village sign due to repeated theft)!

Fun fact – It’s pronounced Goat-em. Not Gotham like in Batman.
Doesn’t hurt that Wollaton Hall was Wayne Manor in Dark Knight Rises either.
Quite fitting for it’s high crime rate.
Gotham for a sandwich
in a similar vein, i live pretty near a place called Vulcan
The real village of Gotham was the inspiration for Batman. There’s an old English folk tale about men from Gotham faking madness to avoid a visit from king John who was on his way to Nottingham, as any road the king travelled would become a public highway. Back then they thought madness was an illness that was infectious.

This is doing the rounds again, huh
I believe the town of Fucking (Austria) had the same problem with sign theft.

I wonder how people from Gotham would feel about being described as a ‘suburb’. It’s an entirely separate, very pleasant village, nothing to do with Nottingham other than being up the road.
That said, Nottingham is a great place to live and has no more shitty areas than any other city.
To the BatBus! Ding-ding-ding-ding ding-ding-ding-ding tickets please!
Now I want to move to Nottingham and Gotham.
Justice…FOR GOTHAM!!!
I’m not sure if it’s still there but where the bus from Nottingham to Loughborough used to stop in Gotham there was a small Batman symbol on the clock on the building that the bus stopped at.
That used to be my bus to work when I lived in Nottingham:)
Not even Batman was spared the cuts of UK austerity. The Batmobile was sold and the crime-fighter informed he should use public transport instead.
Used to play football in the Notts league against a team from Gotham. They had a star player with long black hair – you can guess what his nickname was 😂
