    Like Germany in the 30s we face difficult problems, especially economically. And like Germany we are rejecting the answers we need because they are painful and difficult. Instead we are turning to the easy lies of populism.

    All our problems are complex and require rich people to share a little more, which basically means we are fucked.

    We have no money but we want to spend it. And we’ll vote for any liar who says we can have it all.

  18. Without getting personal, the US leader does a better job of appearing to at least be in the national interest (as well as his own). Ours seems to be against the national interest in virtually all matters. The most obvious and egregious being the boats and hotels.

  19. The labour mandate was 21%. We had a 60% voter turnout and a third voted for Starmer. Since then we’ve had the winter fuel disaster, tax hikes, migrant hotels / boats, rape gangs debacle (anyone who talks about it is far right, oh actually we’re launching an investigation now). Not surprised to hear they’re deeply hated.

  22. People aren’t even bothering to interogate the evidence or analyse why this could be true but is it honestly suprising?

    Donald Trump leads a personality cult in which he can do no wrong and lies routinely to save his own bacon, to varying degrees of success.

    Keir & Rachel are leading an unpopular new Labour style government that has broken multiple promises, u-turned repeatedly and was only elected because they weren’t the conservatives. They won a record number of seats but mostly because the oppositions vote splintered and in many cases, lost votes from the previous election.

    Add on top of that, all the angry sentiment surrounding Starmer for being tory lite within his own base, how is it suprising that they are less popular? The US is a 2 party state.

    Prison system close to collapse

    Teenage suicide at an all time high

    Housing crisis

    Social care crisis
