California’s grid gets a record power assist from home battery fleet. More than 100,000 home batteries across California stepped up as a virtual power plant in a test, and the results were impressive. The event pumped an average of 535 MW onto the grid – enough to power half of San Francisco.

  1. That’s incredible. I remember 2012 taking a solar class at Red Rocks Comm College, Colorado, and in our lab, they had a Sunrun inverter hooked to the grid and to a battery. When we flipped the switch from grid to 100% battery power, we had fans and light on, and there was literally no light flicker at all. Be nice to see batteries come down on price, I know that’s a huge hindrance to getting them.
