Heading to Bloodstock metal festival today! Sitting on the spare room bed in my mum’s house whilst the Mrs snores her silly head off, waiting to start the process of driving down for the early doors opening.
Very excited this year, its a fab line up and the weather should be reasonable too. My liver and wallet’s joint concerns will have to take a back seat until we leave on Monday morning!
Half way there!! A nice long week off next week, what isn’t a win is that I turn 30 next Wednesday 🫣
Made it to the gym!
Added slightly too much vanilla extract to my latest batch of cola cordial and the result was virtually indistinguishable from that Oreo Coke.
I have a massage booked later, ohhh yes. Gonna pootle around town, have a nice lunch, then wander over to the spa.
Partly win, partly massively infuriating.
My car insurance quote went up 40% this year, no reason, just some automated decision somewhere.
Comparison website said i could save £100 instead!
It’s shit you have to go out of your way to get better deals, and you have to change insurers when they can’t match several other cheaper quotes.
But a saving is a saving.
I had my hair cut yesterday and bleached and toned it myself last night… and it isn’t hideous! A bit more ashy than normal (less golden) but not hideous! I don’t have to wear hats for a week until I can fix it (break from the chemicals)!
Lost 3st 4lb so far but cheated and bought forward my weigh-in day as tonight we’re breaking out and ordering a pizza
Bring on the cheese!
Not sure if you can call this a win since it was me being a numpty in the first place! When I started my job over 4 years ago I set something up on a personal Google account which should’ve been on a work Google account. Was absolutely harmless for the longest time but then Google changed the way their API keys worked and the free credits we got for them were slashed.
Each month since April I’ve been charged bits here and there totalling £175 to date. I saw horror stories of people getting charged upwards of 400k dollars with this same mistake so phew!
But yeah, lived fine without that £175 and my boss just said he’ll reimburse it all since it should’ve been on a work account anyway there’s no harm in it. So for what it’s worth I’ve got a nice chunk more money than I thought I did haha. I know it’s just my own money back but I’m seeing it as a silver lining.
I made it through that run of eight night shifts. I’m not sure I can say I’m intact, but I got through it without any kind of meltdown. (I am 40% Red Bull though.) Six off now. Woohoo!
Hump day for me. After much reflection the wife and I have decided to stop having “an occasional wine,” during the week.
Never turned out that way. And on the weekend only for events and having friends over. We were starting to celebrate the opening of a letter.
But we are seeing some stuff in the Edinburgh festival on Saturday. So nice food and a couple.
Wish me luck. This seems more of a struggle than I thought it would be.
it’s my day off and i plan to spend it watching lord of the rings extended editions 🤗
It’s Hastings Pram Race tonight. Tonight Matthew I’m going to be, a giant crab.
Scheduled to be doing a late shift in work but because I’ll be doing a training course today I get to fuck off early
Had a pretty big breakthrough at work yesterday. Nothing huge really, and it’s only the first baby step, but represents overcoming a huge mental hurdle for me so I’m pretty bloody chuffed!
I dunno if this is really a win. But was asked to cover a 9-5 shift at work today, then when I rocked up nobody was expecting me and I was sent home. It’s annoying but I now have the whole day free, and I’m up so might actually be semi productive. So breakfast at spoons and then a trip to Brum for the Ozzy exhibition I think
Bring your pet to work day?
Booked a holiday for later in the year. Counting down the days
I said last week on the Thursday complaints thread that I was anxious about my little solo trip but now I’m excited again.
Singular day at work to get through and then Bloodstock for the weekend. That’ll do pig.
Spending the summer holidays with the family; my wife and my boys. Life is good.
I finished the framing for the soapbox. I am well chuffed how completely overkill every part of it is. The metal chassis it sits on is so overkill and looks good too.

Power tools and cider is a winning combination BTW.
Another 0.5kg of chip fat gone from my skeleton! This is crazy! Just sticking to a calorie limit and getting 10k steps in.
Chocolate, ice creams, sweets, fried foods are all allowed.
2nd win…got bot-banned across reddit, appealed it, got unbanned.
My favourite pub in Manchester gave me a gold card for 20% off! All pints on me lol
I was in the office yesterday and our managing director dragged me into a meeting room to quiz me on why i’m leaving. It turns out they were incredibly apologetic that the company had failed me with a lack of direct action on a few fronts.
It doesn’t necessarily make much of a difference because i’m leaving either way and it’s been a total slog for the last however many months, but it actually felt rather genuine rather than a tick boxing exercise.
Also, only nine working days left! It’s coming round quick!
My work is now setting up a system where they’re imbursing us a certain amount of money a month for health related things, including gym memberships and the like. And it turns out that assessments for ADHD are included on it. So I’ve finally booked an appointment for it on Tuesday and in a few months time I’ll be able to claim it back on work, the cost is what put me off of doing it in the first place.
Stink so good
What in the 50 years old middle management mandatory office attendance shite is this? Did you no get the teams emojis you crave when you posted this in the teams group chat that could have been an email?
Just been paid to stand outside in the sun for 20 minutes.
Fire alarms are great.
Managed some walks without a pram/disability buggy with our son on my own for the first time this past week, get some looks having a child his age in reins but considering hes so delayed in almost every area it’s been brilliant getting out and about like this.
I wasn’t at all planning on it, but I pitched my business to Simon Squibb’s Magic Doorbell the other day and I’m still buzzing. I have no idea what, if anything, will come of it but it was a great unexpected moment! I’m proud I jumped at the opportunity, if anything.
