  1. I feel sorry for the family and understand why they want to lash out…

But… How many millions have passed through this venue over the last decade and how many of those have slipped on a beer and plunged to their death?

    I suspect the answer is… 1.

Which in my mind suggests it’s not really “an accident waiting to happen”.

  2. I’ve been working at wembley for all nights for Oasis, i’m not suprised at all. Level 2 is inherently dangerous because of how steep it is and the amount of alcohol that was being consumed and spilled was absurd so this tragedy was inevitable. The management should have restricted beer consumption on higher tiers of the stadium and placed stewards where the barriers were low.

  3. The bannister wall height would have been 1100mm high as per British standards, I’d be very surprised if it wasn’t. If it wasn’t then I’d say they definitely have a claim to be making otherwise it’d be interesting to see how he managed on the other side of the bannister and fall due to spilt beer.

  4. A Daily Mail article that isn’t about foreigners? Historic day.

  5. My son was either a dumbfuck or unlucky but we demand answers NOW 😭😭😭

A year from now – No alcohol allowed at any events ever.

  6. I think beer was involved but I’m not sure he slipped on it.

    RIP.

  7. This wouldn’t have happened if they just made a giant lasagna in there.

  8. I have sat in the front of the upper tier at Wembley and I have since told several people how close a few people came to go over the top. The seats are so steep that if you fall you kind of float over the people in front. I saw someone skip over the heads of 6 rows before landing in the first row, clinging on to the people that caught him. This has been an accident waiting to happen.

  9. Anyone who’s been to a lot of football away days will know the state of some of the grounds around the UK. I found quite often I would turn up to my seats and think ‘fuck, if I slipped/tripped/had a health issue here I would likely go over the edge.’ Or if you’ve been to some small older theatres in london and sat in the front row of the balcony, that barrier can be knee height to a 20m drop. Whether he was drunk or slipped or whatever, it doesn’t matter, it shouldn’t happen even if you tried to jump.

  10. I remember the last time I saw slipknot I could only get seats up in the gods at the O2 and it’s honestly jarring how high it is! I wasted and I remember genuinely being like, nervous, but more so on the steps going up and down. It is bloody high! I don’t really know what the answer is, though. It’s a stadium at the end of the day, and I’m not sure anyone is at fault. Who knows, I’m she’s there’ll be an investigation and we’ll find out more. It’s totally totally tragic and my heart bleeds for his loved ones, but it seems it’s a total shock accident. We take these risks in life, and this seems like such an isolated event. A real awful one. I go to music events all over the country and London has the most security and just generally the most precautions and health and safety in place, I don’t see how security could get any more intense.

  11. My wife was at the Oasis concert at Wembley the week before, apparently at one point the suggestion from the band was for everyone to turn around (so back to the drop), link arms and jump up and down. She refused as thought it sounded like a fall waiting to happen, especially with the amount of beer flying everywhere!

  12. I imagine they’re laying the groundwork for a compensation claim.

  13. And yet the news was that they broke the beer drinking record for Wembley

  14. I was at the concert on Sunday and I’m not surprised this happened. Saw so many people slip over on the wet floors and stairs. Going down the stairs at the end everyone grabbing hold of the railings

  15. Crazy how the second half of this article just turns into a promotion for the oasis tour
