Colorado National Guard called to support firefighting efforts

GRAND JUNCTION, Colo. (KKCO) -Governor Jared Polis has approved sending out the Colorado National Guard to help with the Elk and Lee Fires.

Governor Polis updated his declaration of a Disaster Emergency from the weekend to include the Lee Fire on Tuesday.

With the Declaration, workers from the State Emergency Operations Center will support other emergency managers of the fire.

The Division of Fire Prevention and Control will also be helping fire crews with suppression/containment efforts.
