What happened? 

According to NTV Spor, the internet exchange operator DE-CIX Istanbul recently published data revealing that Istanbul had its highest-ever internet data traffic during Osimhen’s unveiling. 

Per the report, 505.26 Gbit/s of instantaneous traffic was recorded just after 10:00 PM on July 30th, the day of Osimhen’s arrival and unveiling, and was the highest internet data flow in history. 

The DE-CIX Turkey regional director, Bulent Sen, gave an analogy to help understand the data, explaining that 500 Gbit/s of traffic is the equivalent of watching approximately 300,000 TikTok videos simultaneously.

“The new record of 505.26 Gbit/s reached in Osimhen represents a 295% increase since the beginning of 2020 and a 34% increase since the beginning of 2025,” he further added.

Osimhen’s unveiling 

As Pulse Sports reported, the 26-year-old Nigerian international announced in spectacular fashion, with Galatasaray sharing a video on their social media platforms showing Osimhen aboard a plane declaring “SOLO IL GALA” – Italian for “Only Gala” – confirming his commitment to the Istanbul giants.

The unveiling saw unprecedented levels of fan engagement, as the data has revealed, printed by initiatives like “Victor Osimhen Plane Tracking Broadcast,” through which Cim-Bom allowed their fans to follow the Nigerian’s journey to Turkey via their YouTube channel and GSPlus.
