  1. Europe needs to “step up and take a bigger role” in funding Ukraine in its war against Russia, JD Vance, the US vice-president, said on Sunday.

Speaking to Fox News, he claimed Americans were “sick” of spending their tax dollars abroad and Washington was “done funding” Kyiv.

“If you care so much about this conflict, you should be willing to play a more direct and a more substantial way in funding this war yourself,” he said.

He spoke as European leaders again scrambled to build a united defence behind Ukraine, after President Trump suggested he may cut a deal with President Putin that could mean Ukraine has to concede territory.

It is clear, however, that even if it remains unwavering in its diplomatic stance, Europe lacks the strength to back Kyiv in negotiating favourable terms in a future peace agreement or enforcing a ceasefire.

  2. Well yeah, Europe has the capacity to build an army large enough to arm Ukraine enough to push Russia back. But they don’t. They can’t even find enough troops for a “coalition of the willing” peacekeeping force.

After the Soviet Union fell most European nations cut back on military spending while gladly buying Russian gas / oil, all the while literally every US president told them to not trust Russia while begging for just 2% military spending.

Now we have the largest land war in Europe since the Nazis and they’re still dragging their feet. I think the US should arm Ukraine because it’s the right thing to do. But Europe also needs to show a serious commitment to rearming.

  3. Europe has been funding Ukraine singlehandily for a long while now. Why dont u say what u actually want to say, Bowman? Europe must let you sign the Lavrov-Rubio non aggression Pact to divide Ukraine.

  4. What’s funny, is that without the American involvement in the first place, there wouldn’t even be a conflict to begin with. EU would trade with Russia, Russia would trade with Europe, Ukraine would sit in the middle trading both sides, and everyone would be better off.

    But we weren’t allowed to.

  5. When the EU spent a fortune rebuilding the states of the former commie east I don’t remember the Yanks taking much of a role.

  6. But Trump organized the meeting with Putin on the 15th without Ukraine and the EU… Make it make sense…
