France’s largest fire in over a decade contained, but not yet extinguished • FRANCE 24 English
Well, after yet another day of battling the fires in the UD department in the south of France, authorities made the announcement that the fire had uh now been contained. It doesn’t mean that it’s completely under control. The authorities did note that it would take probably several days uh for the blaze to be fully extinguished. It came after more favorable uh weather conditions during the night. Firefighters instead spending the day mostly uh putting out uh spot fires, renewed areas of fire. quickly going to one place with uh many fire trucks and extinguishing uh the sparks as quickly as they could. This comes as a great relief after we saw the speed at which the fire initially uh broke out at. Residents that we talked to who had to evacuate told us that they barely had time uh to to get anything. They left their houses with the clothes that were on their backs on Tuesday evening and by Thursday afternoon they were still waiting to hear for news about whether they could return to their homes. Some people though uh we spoke to had no homes to return to. That was the case of of Francis. He went back to his property to discover that the home that he had built with his parents had been completely destroyed along with several uh or dozens of Cituan vintage cars completely incinerated. a a passion for him and a project that he said he took 30 years uh to collect. But these are the stories of just one town out of 15 towns affected by this massive uh blaze burning more than 16,000 hectares. So, people coming back uh to to their homes or businesses still and just assessing the damage as they uh see these
FRANCE 24 journalist Carys Garland reports from Narbonne, in France, after officials said Thursday the country’s largest wildfire in over a decade had been contained after blazing through 16,000 hectares. Residents who had been forced to evacuate near the origins of the fire had not yet been allowed to return home on Thursday after, while others who were granted permission said they had no home to return to. Officials added it would take another several days before the blaze is fully extinguished.

It's always the expensive real estate lands that get blown away like Hawaii or South of France or fire destroying the Hollywood Hills in California. Its always the most expensive parts of the state or country as they want to get the people out so they can build something expensive instead.
We know.
France’s firefighters deserve huge credit.
