The eldest son of Princess Mette-Marit has lost his diplomatic passport, a document granted to him during childhood due to his close ties with the royal family. Although he never held a noble title or official duties, the passport allowed him to bypass immigration controls, receive preferential treatment at airports, and have enhanced consular protection. Prince Haakon publicly confirmed that Marius had held it since childhood but did not mention its use for private trips, which caused discomfort and media pressure in the country.

According to revelations from the magazine Se og Hør, Marius is said to have used the passport for multiple private trips, even without the company of other royal family members, violating the guidelines set by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. The use of the passport allowed him to bypass immigration controls and receive preferential treatment at international airports. The publication asserts that Marius abused his privileges by using the passport to avoid compromising situations abroad.

  1. This makes it sound like he tried to use his diplomatic passport to avoid being held accountable in other countries. It makes it sound like it’s more than just getting to skip part of the processing at airports.

  2. This young man needs to be institutionalized for the protection of society.

  3. I feel bad for all the others who lost their dipl. passport privileges because of that dumbass, lol.

You KNOW Maud, Leah and Emma are just collateral damage.

  4. I know how this place is, but you will hopefully be pleased to know that the outcome of his numerous charges are to be revealed sometime very soon. (The timeframe was sometime in the middle of August.)

  5. Why is he even holding that passport? If it’s for official travel only, some office in the palace should hold onto it and give it out only when official travel is being done. I have a separate passport for work (not diplomatic lol, but similar idea without all those diplo perks) and it’s just signed out for actual work travel, then goes back to be held at work.

  6. I used to really like the Norwegian royals. They seemed down to earth and more normal. Not so much anymore.
