Prince William Confides in Kate Middleton’s Father, Says Source

Amid a feud with his brother and a reported distance from his father, Prince William is finding another person to confide in and it’s not his wife, Kate Middleton.

During an episode of the podcast Dynasty: The Royal Family’s Most Challenging Year, via Daily Mail, royal expert Katie Nicholl said William has built a “really wonderful” relationship with Kate’s father, Michael Middleton and often leans of his father-in-law in troubling times.

“I know they have a close relationship, and that William will often turn to Michael for advice,” she said. “He has a great sense of humor and I think he’s someone who is a cool head in a crisis.”

Micheal, often described as the quietest member of the Middleton family, is far less public than his wife, Carole Middleton, and their children, Kate, Pippa, and James. However, the family has always been known for their closeness and that bond now includes William.

“They would always stick together. They were a very tight unit and they’re still the same today,” Nicholl said while her co-host, Erin Vanderhoof, added William found a sense of “normalcy” with his in-laws that wasn’t previously in his life.

“I think, as kind of a man as King Charles is, he was not necessarily the warmest, most open person,” she said.

Nicholl also spoke about one of the rare insights into Michael and William’s relationship that came in Michael’s father-of-the-bride speech at William and Kate’s 2011 wedding.

“I always remember his father-of-the-bride speech on the wedding day and how he had everyone at the tables just in fits of laughter when he was recounting the story of William, who was training at the time as a helicopter pilot, buzzing in on the Middleton family home and sweeping in on his helicopter,” she said. “Obviously, as a father, thinking, ‘What on earth is going on here?’ while simultaneously realizing this was the future king of England really courting his daughter in a pretty spectacular way.”
