MOBILE, Ala. (WALA) – A shooting occurred in the entertainment district in downtown Mobile early Sunday morning.
Police said two men were taken to the hospital.
“We heard a lot of gunshots and then they got closer and we realized they were gunshots so we locked the doors and they blocked off the streets,” said a bartender.
Mobile Police responded to the scene shortly after 2:30 am in the area around Saint Francis and North Franklin.
“There were a lot of people that couldn’t get to their cars because they blocked off the whole block, and I live across the street so everybody was just like camped out out there,” a woman said.
A local bartender said she heard about ten shots outside the bar, but a business in the area captured video of the whole thing. In the video, it sounded like over twenty shots were fired, all in a matter of seconds. The video showed several people running for their lives as soon as the gunfire started.
Police said several vehicles in a nearby parking lot were also struck by bullets.
A witness said some cars had shattered windows and bullet holes.
Mobile police said they’re speaking with witnesses.
