“Chipper” grates me on so much more than it should.
I’ve always called it the chipper?!
A waiter in a restaurant in Belfast asked me what the most famous chipper in my home town was, it’s definitely a thing. Although a bit rare I must admit haha
Can I have an ice pole with the chipper?
Something similar happened to me in a restaurant when I was visiting Belfast;
I asked ‘Are those students dressed for their Debs?’ to which one of the staff said, ‘Oh do you mean dressed for their Formal?’ and I nearly died from the culture shock.
I def heard chipper quite a bit. Derry in the 90s.
