Not that anyone was waiting for an update with baited breath but just want this to at least motivate anyone who ever finds themselves in a similar position to me six months ago. I still have work to do but did not expect to see such changes soon.
I've always been a lard arse who liked his food and baked goods and being faced with the fact there was CRITICAL NEED for me to make changes to the way I approached food was daunting.
And despite what I said about salads, I have actually really enjoyed eating way more healthily.
Lunches are now salads centred around one or two proteins, my dinners now incorporate at least 2 or 3 portions of veg. And with the latter I am not going to sit here and pretend that hasn't been more expensive (when buying fresh) than buying things like pasta in bulk or loading up on bread.
But buying frozen vegetables goes a long way towards helping with cost. I've switched rice for bulgur wheat (which works out the same price or cheaper if you know where to look and is just as yummy). And whilst saturated fats need to be avoided, don't just boil everything. Stir frying, roasting and even steaming your vegetables are much tastier options. And FAT = flavour and is not the enemy so dont be afraid to use vegetable oils or even butter.
But most importantly healthy eating doesn't have to involve wondering what you must take away from your meals. INSTEAD THINK ABOUT WHAT YOU CAN ADD TO THEM.
Have a good day peeps 🕺🏿

Congrats, here’s to many more healthy years!
How did you get tested for it?
Good for you! And because I can’t stop myself, it’s bated breath, not baited breath. But back to the main topic: Good job!
This is such a great achievement, well done!
Well done for making such a change. I am trying to eat healthier myself and finding it very difficult to break old habits.
From your last sentence, I am guessing you watch Kylie Sakaida’s videos, she’s a nutritionist who talks about what you can add to your meals to make them tasty and healthy.
This is fantastic, well done! I work in the NHS and it’s eye-opening with how many people are being diagnosed with Pre-Diabetes. Keep up the good work!
Congratulations!
Well done it’s the best feeling isn’t it?
I’m still pre-diabetic but I’ve gone from 44mmol to 42mmol.
I’m hoping I’ve gone below the pre-diabetic threshold by my next blood test! I have PCOS so I don’t have the easiest time losing weight either.
Well done!!!
Good on you for actively something about it. Well done.
Congratulations
🎶Remission, remission!🎶
Thats great news. Well done.
Do you have any yellowing of the eyes? Have you had your pancreas checked?
My FIL was pre-diabetic. He improved his diet and his doctor was amazed by the response. Said she never saw an improvement like that.
Less than a year later he was dead from Pancreatic Cancer.
> FAT = flavour
Spices: “do we mean nothing to you?”
Congratulations!!!
Great achievement! Well done OP! Did you lose much weight?
Thanks and congrats! I am going to try the bulgur wheat, made lentils recently and wasn’t thrilled with the texture.
Nice one!
Congratulations.
Congrats!
I unfortunately wasn’t able to head my T2 diabetes off before it became a thing. Taking 5 pills a day to make sure you don’t die is not fun.
Congrats. I’ve been through something similar myself.
Sorting your health out is a lot of upfront pain and fear, but long term it’s amazing. I didn’t realise you weren’t supposed to hurt all the time (knees, back, being tired, etc.).
Keep the ball rolling OP. I used to be a full on couch potato but now I go do a 5-10k every couple of days for fun. Running is actually fun, which still seems crazy to me.
Awww this is fantastic news. Im so pleased to hear this. Well done! Keep going, you should be so proud. Xx
Well done!
Amazing but what has the pie got to do with it?
What a beautiful post – congrats!
Hell yeah! Love to see it! I too wrestled my blood sugar away from “wtf, you wanna die?” levels. It’s a good feeling.
Congrats. It just takes a change of diet to achieve this – but *that* is like “giving up smoking” to achieve!
That’s great, well done! I was diagnosed in Feb this year, first reading was 55 and latest blood test was 51.
Luckily I don’t really have any symptoms, but I am finding the food changes hard, especially as a vegetarian
