Prince Harry may be telling us that he is deeply in his feels over the forced takeover of Sentebale, but it’s been tagged as a typical Prince Harry response to crisis.

Writing for The Sun, royal author Robert Jobson noted that Sentebale is just another one of Prince Harry passion projects turned to scorched bridges.

Did Prince Harry Give Up On Sentebale Too Easily, Royal Expert Believes So

It was a big royal news day when reports broke that Prince Harry and Prince Seeiso, along with several trustees, were exiting Sentebale – a charity Harry co-founded to provide for the sick children of Botswana.

The news was especially hard-hitting when you remember that Harry co-founded the charity to honor his mother’s legacy: the charity’s name is basically named after Princess Diana’s favorite flowers, Forget-me-nots.

At the time, Harry claimed that the environment had become too toxic for him to remain, and hoped that the UK Charity Commission would set things right.

Well, their verdict was to find fault from all sides, as they noted that the charity suffered from governance failures, damaging behaviour and a serious lack of leadership.

However, Jobson noted that “leadership is not about walking away when the mood turns. In any serious institution — royalty, the boardroom or charity — you do not storm out. You stay in the room. You resolve the problem for the greater good.”

Jobson tagged Harry’s decision to bail on Sentebale as the same as Harry’s same old failures. It’s heartbreaking considering the amount of good the charity was doing for the young people of Lesotho and Botswana.

“And like so many of his recent exits, this one fits the pattern. When pressure mounts and compromise is needed, he withdraws,” Jobson wrote, adding, “It’s a shame. Because Sentebale mattered. Founded in 2006, it provides long-term support to children in Lesotho and Botswana affected by HIV and poverty. It wasn’t a vanity project. It was purposeful — touching the lives of 100,000 youngsters — and at one point, so was Harry.”

Perhaps the new chair, Zimbabwean lawyer Sophie Chandauka, will be able to steer the charity to new highs, even in the light of the lost royal connections.
