Bet it will. Putin has the land containing most of the country’s mineral wealth, and a land bridge to Crimea. Maybe not what he originally set out for, but still a considerable win.
Consider the example of Georgia. Georgia agreed to toe the line; Putin has not invaded. Ukraine could do the same. Yes, it means becoming a Russian vassal state and that sucks, but if we’re being honest, that’s the direction Ukraine is headed anyway unless western countries decide to put boots on the ground (spoiler: they won’t). Either they accept that reality now, or they get it forced on them later after a lot more have died.
Hard cold reality: Ukraine is fighting a losing war. At some point it’s time to stop the killing.
Keep fighting then? Ukraine made a big mistake of not understanding the delicate position they find themselves in! Ukraine should remain NEUTRAL!
>>A year later, on the eve of the war, Putin lectured Russians for hours on what he said was the fiction of Ukrainian statehood and the “madness” that had allowed it to become independent from Moscow in 1991, when Ukrainians voted overwhelmingly to break away from the Soviet Union.
>>“I have said many times that I consider the Russian and Ukrainian peoples to be one people. In this sense, all of Ukraine is ours,” Putin said in June. Last month, he corrected Alexander Lukashenko, the Belarusian dictator, when he warned that Russia could “seize” more land in Ukraine. “Return — it’s ours,” Putin told him.
I want Ukraine to win and for Russia to lose. In order for that to happen Europe needs to step up and get involved.
