Yeah, bit warm innit.
But there is SUNSHINE. Most people are HAPPY (if a bit more sweaty than usual).
Anyway, what are your wins for this week?

A very tiny win for me, I think that I reverse jinkst (is that a word?) my night shift. I posted that I thought it would be crackers because of the huge moon, but apart from 3 non emergency calls that took a couple of minutes to sort out, I had nothing.

The bee-friendly balcony is nearing completion and it’s already attracting bumblebees, honey bees and butterflies. At some point I’ll be replacing the individual small pots with wooden planters, but that can wait for next year.
Also, it seems that I joined this company at the right moment – they just announced that July saw a 20% increase in sales, so they’re treating us all to a massive day out food and drink splurge next week.
My win has come early today!
I’m packing up for moving house; I couldn’t sleep so I decided to carry on packing up my living room and as of around 7:30 it is officially all packed up and 3 days ahead of schedule! I had it in my mind to have it done by the weekend so that’s good!
Just my TV and PC to pack away but they’ll take 2 minutes and I want to have *some* form of entertainment for the next 2 weeks.
That’s the big job done, the rest of the rooms are pretty smooth sailing from here.
Bloody knackered now due to the heat as well.
Small one. But managed to get my first corn tortilla recipe bang on the money. Amazing how hard it is to make something with just masa flour, salt and water. Probably 50 tortillas done before I can get them to puff up. So good.
I’m at the Norfolk coast at the moment, so I’ll be heading to the beach soon, maybe get a pasty, definitely get an ice cream, watch some fighter jet swoop about overhead as the seem to here, swim in the strangely clear at the moment North Sea, get hit around the place by my kids at beach cricket, think about what I’ll have for tea.
Think I’ll be winning most of the day.
> more sweaty
The weather is more better than yesterday!
I picked the right week for a trip away to Scarborough. 27 with a coastal breeze and hours on the beach vs 32 in Leeds with a fan for company.
I’ll become a British Citizen this morning, I count it as a big win!

Got my allotment yesterday. It’s *enormous*! There was no waiting list 🤯
My 9 month old slept for 5 hours straight last night which is a minor miracle for him.
I feel so fresh.
Bit of a yesterday one, but I was walking through the workshop at work and my colleague says “is that a pigeon trying to get out through the glass up there?”
I look up and go “umm, that’s not a pigeon”
Turns out we had a very distressed and hot looking Sparrow Hawk come to visit. After sitting on the rafters for a bit it was able to get its bearings and breath back, and fly back out through the doorway.

Well, I paid 110 pounds in cash advance fees because I bought forex on my credit card. Is this new? I don’t ever recall having to pay a cash advance fee unless you’re withdrawing cash. And I don’t use my debit card because there’s no protection with online purchases.
Anyway, whatever. My cafe breakfast was good at least
One of my dogs accidentally tore the ear open of my other one at the park this morning, but the wound is not big enough to get a stitch.
It won’t stop bleeding, and plasters were not created with dog fur in mind haha.
**Alien Earth** Day, innit!
The dog finally seems tired of barking.
I’ve given in and ordered a portable air conditioner, it’s being delivered this evening and I am so excited. Me, the dog and the cats can’t cope with another 10 days of predicted temperatures being a minimum of 27 degrees, it is 32 inside my flat at the moment and it’s only 9am! The thought of a 20 degree bedroom is filling me with happiness.
I called in sick, and my wife, thankfully decided to go into work meaning I have the house to myself!
