For the first time in its history, the MICHELIN Guide has introduced an award dedicated to architecture and design – and a Croatian hotel has made the exclusive list.
The new MICHELIN Architecture and Design Award recognises properties that push the boundaries of architectural excellence and design innovation.
It celebrates places where style and structure are at the heart of the travel experience.
Among the five hotels nominated worldwide is Croatia’s own Villa Nai 3.3 on the tranquil island of Dugi Otok, joining impressive properties from Japan, Brazil, Saudi Arabia and Dubai.
Villa Nai 3.3 is carved directly into the coastline of Dugi Otok, offering just eight carefully crafted accommodation units. Built from stone sourced from the very hillside in which it sits, the hotel blends seamlessly with the surrounding landscape while keeping its carbon footprint to a minimum.
The design draws inspiration from traditional Dalmatian dry stone wall techniques, following the contours of the natural terrain.
The result is an organic connection with the environment. Interiors feature Italian marble, warm wooden accents and calming neutral tones, reflecting the hotel’s commitment to sustainability and understated luxury.

Beyond its striking design, Villa Nai 3.3 is also known for its award winning olive oil, a centrepiece of its gourmet offering. Guests can enjoy local produce in a setting that feels both exclusive and deeply rooted in the island’s traditions.
