One full week of NFL preseason action is in the books, and there’s plenty to talk about.

On Wednesday, the Buffalo Bills solved their biggest training-camp question. Running back James Cook ended his hold-in, inking a four-year, $48 million extension with the franchise, the team confirmed.

The deal ensures Cook, quarterback Josh Allen and wideout Khalil Shakir will remain under contract with the Bills for years to come. It also resolves the Bills’ biggest source for potential drama during camp.

Cook, 25, rushed for 1,009 yards and scored a league-leading 16 rushing touchdowns with Buffalo last season.

With Cook under contract, the team can now fully shift its focus to winning its first Super Bowl.

Jerry Jones reveals he battled stage 4 melanoma: Cowboys team owner Jerry Jones told the Dallas Morning News that he beat stage 4 melanoma after over a decade including four surgeries. “I now have no tumors,” Jones, who is 82 years old, said. His initial diagnosis came in 2010, and over the next 10 years he had two surgeries on his lungs and two on his lymph nodes. He credited the experimental drug PD-1 — short for Programmed Cell Death Protein 1 — for his recovery. “I was saved by a fabulous treatment and great doctors and a real miracle [drug] called PD-1 [therapy],” Jones said, via the Morning News. “I went into trials for that PD-1 and it has been one of the great medicines.”

No Browns starting QB named for Eagles game yet: We know this much: Joe Flacco is the presumptive starter at quarterback when the regular season starts, and he won’t play on Saturday. Neither will veteran Kenny Pickett, long assumed to be QB2. That’s about it, as there are no decisions whether Shedeur Sanders or Dillon Gabriel will start Saturday in the Browns’ second preseason game at the Eagles. What’s more: Sanders didn’t get QB3 reps in 7-on-7 drills vs. the Eagles Wednesday —–— veteran camp arm Tyler Huntley did. We’ll see what head coach Kevin Stefanski says after practice.

Najee Harris returns to practice after fireworks injury: Chargers running back Najee Harris was seen running drills with a football on Tuesday for the first time in training camp, according to ESPN’s Kris Rhim. He reportedly did so off to the side with a trainer. It has been more than a month since Harris sustained what was described as a “superficial” eye injury during a Fourth of July fireworks mishap. His agent insisted he would be ready for the start of the regular season, but the Chargers have so far been hesitant to provide anything resembling a timetable for his return.
