  1. >Reform UK Assembly Member Alex Wilson told the Local Democracy Reporting Service (LDRS)

Oh well if Reform say so, it *must* be true

  2. The mod message ending with “Thank you for your attention on this matter” just makes me think of trump lol

Is it meant to be a parody or is it just an unfortunate coincidence?

  3. >The mayor says new [City Hall](https://www.standard.co.uk/topic/city-hall) data shows knife crime dropped by 19% between April and June this year compared with the same period last year, while the number of residential burglaries, personal thefts and personal robberies also fell.

Year-on-year it’s fallen, longer term it’s still up.

  4. “No they need to higher so we can use it to blame immigrates, LBGTQ people, mainly trans people and anyone who is isn’t white or British.” Reform spoke

    “Shit” Reform spoke

^(they said quiet bit too loud)

  5. A 19% yoy drop is hardly incremental lol.

Lots of these stats have been distorted by COVID so extrapolating long term trends from data over the past 5 years is a bit of a fool’s errand. Which is exactly the kind of errand that no doubt appeals to the Reform types.

Anyway I’m pleased for Kahn and I don’t begrudge him rubbing his critics’noses in this.

  6. Celebrate the wins, wherever they come from – right/left? Couldn’t care less, if knife crime is down that’s a good thing

  7. Without giving ammunition to Reform, is it that knife crime has objectively fallen or that it’s being reported less, I wonder? Any politician would seize on good news or the appearance of it so i can’t begrudge him that, but it seems unlikely that falling police numbers/availability coincided with drops in actual violent offences

  8. > The idea he points to incremental changes in just a few categories is ridiculous

it’s hilarious how they’ve spent the last 8 years going on about knife crime yet as soon as it decreases they say it’s unimportant (also crime overall is down but whatever)

  9. I can only imagine the fury from Graham in Leeds, as he bashes out a Facebook comment on his spittle-flecked keyboard.

  10. As a Met officer I struggle to believe that they statistics are correct

  11. Ok so knife crime is up 86% in a decade, up 58% from 2021 to 2024, and down to 19% vs. vs last year’s record levels.

    What an achievement.

  12. It could be zero and the swivel eyed racists would find something to be dramatic about

  13. Row breaks out as Sadiq Khan says knife crime has fallen London

    6 stabbed in commotion

    /s

  14. Perhaps the £10 for a knife was money well spent and another donation or scheme would be worthwhile .

  15. From a statistical perspective I think k that looking at a year on year change for just a 3 month period (apr-jun) can potentially lead to results which vary from the actual trend across an entire year.

But obviously great if this is borne out by the next months and year(s) of data, and London is starting to buck the trend.

  16. If it has fallen, then saying so is simply fact? Doesn’t look like he’s saying it has been eradicated.

  17. Fake it till you make it xD
If he says so that must be true!
