Turkiye’s FM Affirms Country’s Commitment to Gaza Ceasefire
Ankara, August 13 (QNA) – Turkish Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan affirmed today that his country is making intensive, multi-faceted diplomatic efforts to achieve a ceasefire in the Gaza Strip, deliver humanitarian aid there, and take steps toward lasting peace.
Speaking at a joint press conference with Botswana’s Minister of International Relations, Phenio Butale, following their meeting in Ankara, Fidan said that Turkiye continues to launch initiatives in all international forums to push the global community to act on Gaza. He said that, as the current Chair of the Council of Foreign Ministers of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation, he has once again called on the organization to convene a meeting to discuss Israel’s decision to expand its occupation in Gaza, noting plans to hold this meeting in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia, in the coming days.
For his part, Botswana’s Minister of International Relations said that his country supports Turkiye’s peace-oriented efforts within the international community and coordinates with it in this regard. (QNA)
