Algiers pushes back after Macron urges tougher stance • FRANCE 24 English
The response was swift. A day after Emanuel Macarron’s call to take a tougher stance with Algeria, Alers issued a sharply worded three-page statement. Since the outbreak of this crisis, provoked by France, the latter has chosen to use force and escalation. It has resorted to threats, ultimatums, and summons, ignoring the fact that Algeria will not yield to any form of pressure. Macron angered alers last July when France backed Morocco’s sovereignty over Western Sahara. Since then, relations have rapidly soured. The root of the latest tensions, a letter by Macron addressed to his prime minister. In this letter, I share my particular concern about the situation of the most dangerous Algerian nationals who are being released from prison and can no longer be deported. I ask you to instruct the minister of the interior to find ways of cooperating effectively with his Algerian counterpart as soon as possible. Macron refers to several cases including a deadly knife attack this February in Mealoo carried out by an Algerian national who France has long attempted to expel but Alger’s repeatedly refuse to accept. France can’t extend foreign inmates detention for legal reasons and it can’t deport them. The prime minister though is taking a more consiliatory tone. We will apply them not in the spirit of perpetual confrontation but in the spirit of one day restoring balanced and fair relations. The arrest and sentencing of Franco Algerian writer Buam Sansel and journalist Kristoff Clees remains a major bone of contention. While France’s interior minister continues to advocate a hard line drawing the wrath of Alers which holds him responsible for the deteriorating relations between the two countries. You’re doing
Relations between France and Algeria have reached a new low, following a letter written by Emmanuel Macron to his Prime Minister. In it, he instructs François Bayrou to take a tougher stance toward France’s former colony, as a dispute drags on over two French nationals imprisoned in Algeria and visa exemptions for Algerian diplomats. Algiers has responded by accusing Paris of trying to “exonerate” itself from any blame.

Diversity is France's strength.

🧈 Moh's Hardness Scale!
Some one should learn to keep their giant sized hooter out of other countries business.
The bromance is derailing!
Most of Algerian presidents were born in Morocco
On on the moh scale president, Macron is by hard as a fresh turd
Still acting as if Algeria were their colony, Retailleau and his ilk fail to see that with their hollow tough talk, they have everything to lose, and precious little leverage left. All of Africa now sees clearly how France enriched itself at their expense, and one by one, they are turning their backs on their former colonizer.
If Algeria doesn't want their national France should give him a free ticket to Rwanda or El Salvador. ✈️😆
Non locality everywhere may be.
Why the French are there ?
Who is france to interfere in the matter between its former colonies? They should know algeria is a sovereign nation and can't be dictated. also these Algerian and moroccon migrants are here in France because u called them in post-world war remember? What pissed me is the patronising attitude of Macrob who thinks algeria is still it's colony and they will do what france says. Let the Western Sahara issue be solved between them.
Retailleu aka el topo,he's familie are in grain business and he's not happy algeria does buy French grain anymore. I hope they stop buying their grain forever
Isn't his wife a dude?
