RU POV: mortar shell explodes while still in the barrel, likely due to a faulty fuse.

  1. I am not an expert, but I think that covering his ears didn’t change much

  2. Did he double stack a round and set one off in the tube?

  3. I have seen enough mortar shells exploding in tubes that I rather be a common rifleman than a mortarman

  4. I wonder what he said. Something like “Russian equipment best in world” I hope.

  5. “This is for our classmate”…..

    Guess you’ll be joining them.

  6. Everytime this gets reposted there’s less and less info

  7. Fake and not straight. (Not gonna get banned again)

  8. I was an 81mm mortarman, that is likely not a fuse problem. The round needs to travel for a set distance before they arm to prevent exactly this.

It looks more like a tube failure upon detonation of the primary charge and propellant. This can happen if the weapon is not properly maintained (internal rust), or fired at the “cyclic rate” (dropping rounds as fast as you can) with improper cooling (dumping water on the base of the tube).

I wasn’t there, so I’m not speaking definitively, just speculating based on my experience with mortars.

Edit – people are saying this is a fake video, I don’t know if it is or not, but either way a fuse wouldn’t do this.

  9. If this is fake, then they did a pretty good job adding illumination to the clothes & environment.

  10. They’re gonna go broke paying out all these widows with JBL speakers and potatoes
