MOHAWK, N.Y. — “Suzy Q’s”, home to a variety of icecream flavors and pastries, has been recognized as the New York Small Business Development Center’s Woman Owned Business of the Year.
Owner Susan Burdick has been the owner since May 2021.
The Mohawk shop was formerly known as “Mrs. Shake”. Burdick bought the store from the owner when they retired and renamed it to “Suzy Q’s” in May.
Since she’s been there, she’s put the effort into her business day and night.
And she said the community support has been overwhelming.
“I’m really proud of all the other women owned businesses out there,” Burdick said. “They inspire me, they go out and open up businesses and do a great job.”
Burdick was joined by family, friends, and the community to celebrate her business’ achievement.
“I’m very proud of my mom,” Mackenzie Burdick said. “It’s really good to see everyone here supporting her and it’s really nice to see how many people showed up to this today.”
Suzy Burdick said the support for small, women-owned businesses is an honor.
